Oglethorpe Power Company Rocky Mountain Hydroelectric Plant

ENERCON has provided CAD services to support plant projects and development of equipment and plant drawings. These services have included structural, mechanical and electrical drawings.

ENERCON performed a study making recommendations and required plant modifications on the present Uninterrupted Power Source (UPS) and Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. The UPS was limited due to corporate using their Station as a data back-up center in case of disaster. The Station was equipped with 2 inverters for the UPS. The addition of the corporate communications back-up equipment to the 2 inverters has impacted that Station's ability for redundant UPS systems. Neither inverter can handle the entire load if one system needs to be de-energized for service. The communication back-up equipment was generating excessive heat loads in the communications equipment room.

ENERCON provided detail design to upgrade the existing personnel elevator to meet Georgia building codes. A new HVAC system was added to the existing mechanical equipment room to provide mechanical cooling. Power for the HVAC system was supplied from an existing panel. This panel was backed up by the existing emergency diesel generator system. The new HVAC system would interface with the existing fire alarm system and will shut down on detection of a fire.
